Aspirin and your ORAL surgery

Most everyone knows that aspirin can increase bleeding time for patients. It interacts with all blood thinners but is taken by many, who are at risk, to minimize the occurrence of stroke.

The general rule before any surgery has been to stop taking the aspirin about 7 or 10 days prior to the date of surgery to limit the risk of uncontrolled bleeding.

However, patients who take lower doses of aspirin can continue taking the aspirin during ORAL surgery. In the event of surgeries other than ORAL surgery, each patient should consult with their physician.

Watch out for vitamin E in your vitamins and supplements. This will increasi your bleeding time and unsightly bruises as well.
