Compounded medications for otolaryngology and dentistry offer tailored therapeutic options when commercially available treatments fall short. At Hawthorne Compounding Pharmacy, we collaborate closely with ENT specialists, oral surgeons, and dental professionals to develop patient-specific formulations that address unique clinical challenges. From topical anesthetics and mucosal rinses to antibiotic- or antifungal-based preparations, our compounded solutions support optimal drug delivery, improved adherence, and enhanced treatment efficacy for both acute and chronic conditions.

Some additional formulations we make can be used to help in the treatment of conditions such as Vertigo, Tinnitus, Ear Infections, Nasal Polyps, Hormone Rhinitis, & Tonsillectomy recovery include Betahistine Capsules, Estradiol Nasal Sprays, Betamethasone Nasal Sprays, Tetracaine Lollipops & Tranexamic Acid Rinse.

Steroids

Commonly used in ENT and dental treatments for their potent anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and anti-edematous properties. They help reduce swelling, relieve pain, and accelerate healing in various acute and chronic conditions.

Common ingredients used include, but are not limited to: Budesonide, Clobetasol, Dexamethasone, Hydrocortisone, Mometasone, Prednisone, Prednisolone & Triamcinolone

Antibiotics

Compounded antibiotic products can be used to help treat a wide range of dental and ENT conditions, such as Chronic Rhinosinusitis, Fungal or Mixed Infections, Post-Operative Infections, Refractory Periodontal Disease, pericoronitis or Gingival Infections, and more.

Common ingredients used include, but are not limited to: Ciprofloxacin, Clindamycin, Gentamicin, Mupirocin, Levofloxacin, Tetracycline, Doxycycline, Vancomycin.

Antifungals

Antifungal agents are used in ENT and dental treatments to manage localized fungal infections, particularly those caused by Candida or Aspergillus species. In ENT care, they are commonly used to treat fungal sinusitis and otomycosis, often via compounded nasal irrigations or otic solutions. In dental settings, antifungals are used to treat conditions such as oral candidiasis, denture stomatitis, and angular cheilitis, typically via compounded rinses, lozenges, or topical preparations.

Common ingredients used include, but are not limited to: Acetylcysteine, Amphotericin B, Clotrimazole, ETDA, Nystatin, Intraconazole, and Ketotifen

Mouthwash Preparations

These customized rinses often combine multiple agents, such as anesthetics, antihistamines, antifungals, antacids, corticosteroids, or antibiotics, to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, treat infections, and promote mucosal healing.

Common indications include oral mucositis, aphthous ulcers, burning mouth syndrome, oral candidiasis, and post-radiation or chemotherapy-related oral complications. In ENT care, similar formulations may also be used to manage laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) and throat irritation.

Common ingredients used in compounded mouthwashes include but are not limited to: Diphenhydramine, Nystatin, Maalox, Lidocaine, Tetracycline, Dexamethasone, Hydrocortisone & Triamcinolone
