Pharmacist Spotlight: Rachel Hawley
Meet Rachel Hawley, PharmD, our pharmacy manager at Hawthorne Sunset Pharmacy.
Where did you go to school?
The University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC for both my undergrad and pharmacy school doctorate program
How long have you been with Hawthorne?
About 6 months come the end of July
What made you want to go into pharmacy?
I have always had a passion for helping others and the healthcare field. I loved the idea of working in the retail setting as a pharmacist since we are one of the most accessible healthcare professionals for all patients.
Why did you choose Hawthorne Pharmacy?
While interning during pharmacy school I was lucky enough to work for an independent pharmacy. Upon graduation, I started my career for a corporate company, but I missed the personal connections that you can make when working for a local pharmacy. Hawthorne has really brought back my passion for the pharmacy profession. I love the customers here and the staff here truly making coming to work a joy.
What do you think is a benefit to our patients when using Hawthorne vs any other pharmacy?
Hawthorne is truly a one-of-a-kind pharmacy. Every team member works towards the same goal to go above and beyond to help each customer. We all work towards the same goals to give a unique customer experience and make each customer feel special. We're the company that will do everything we can to serve our community. We offer prescriptions, compounds, medical equipment, vaccines, hormone testing, and so much more all from one place - what more could a customer ask for!
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love getting to help patients each day improve their health. I am thankful to be part of our community and to be someone who our patients can trust when it comes to any of their questions. Some of my favorite moments are when I can give a patient peace of mind when it comes to their disease state, over-the-counter recommendations, medication questions, or honestly just life questions in general. Being able to truly know our customers and be a part of their lives is such a gift.
Any hobbies? Fun facts?
When I leave work I love spending time outside, at the lake, playing with my sweet pup, traveling to adventurous places, and going on hikes. Fun fact: My husband and I are expecting our first child this December! We are over the moon excited! :)
